Under this name has been applied to the line Ministries of Albanian Government for the unsolicited concession for New Shengjini Port and has been issued the approval by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Energy.

Meantime has been contracted the Italian company MEDING for the services of feasibility study, detailed design and supervision for the construction of the New Port of Shengjin – Lezhe and has been implemented the first phase of site research for the  design. The project is financially advised by Deloitte.

The aim is to develop and increase the capacity of port both by creating and upgrading infrastructures and facilities and increasing the efficiency of port operations, considering that port is node of the networks, components of the intermodal chain.

The project wants to enhance efficiency, competitiveness, and capacity of the Shengjin port in terms of:

• increase capacity by increasing line meters of quay, terminal areas, terminal facilities
• optimizing port operations, improving efficiency of the cargo handling and the cargo handling capacity;
• rationalizing the use of the quays and the terminal areas;
• increasing the capacity road and logistical corridor connections to port;
• enhancing the port service quality and costs;
• enhancing the quality of all the operation in ports acting on practice, rules, regulations, procedures, and legislation frame.

Considering an integration plan for the development of the area, a free zone has been foreseen as a back up for the project of port.
